British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Located along the southern mainland, across the water from Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast offers visitors a wide range of fun activities. Keep reading to discover a list of the top things to do on BC’s Sunshine Coast.
Explore the beauty of BC’s Sunshine Coast by spending a day island hopping. There are BC Ferries terminals to both Gambier and Keats Islands from Langdale (just north of Gibsons). Alternatively, we recommend renting a kayak and experiencing the islands from the unique vantage point of the water.
There’s no denying that the Sunshine Coast is one of the best places for hiking in the world. The most popular hike on the coast has to be the trail to Skookumchuk Rapids. This trail has hikers passing through a west coast rainforest filled with moss-covered trees before arriving at the wild rapids. Here in Gibsons, we recommend hiking up Soames Hill. From the top of the hill (which takes about 40 minutes to reach), you can enjoy panoramic views of Gibsons, the local islands, and the surrounding mountains.
If there’s one thing the Sunshine Coast is known, it’s craft beer. In fact, BC on the whole is home to over 200 craft breweries. Some of the best are located along this coast in the towns of Gibsons and Powell River. In Gibsons, be sure to check out Persephone Brewing Company, a sustainable brewery with a lovely garden patio in the summer. Tapworks and The 101 Brewery and Distillery are also located in Gibsons. Meanwhile, in Powell River, there’s nowhere better than Townsite Brewing. At Townsite Brewing, visitors will find everything from IPAs to barrel-aged Belgian quad beer
If you want to enjoy all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer, then you’ll want to book a room at the Gibsons Garden Hotel. Nearby the area’s biggest attractions, we combine excellent service and warm rooms with a fantastic location.
